FOUR BULLDOGS COMMIT
Erica Addison, 2008 North-Region Player of the Year and 2008 NWAACC All-American, has committed to play for the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). Addison, a sophomore shortstop from Anacortes finished the season with a .469 batting average with 12 homeruns and 61 RBI. UNLV is a Division-1 program and should prove a great transition for Addison as UNLV assistant Coach Sara Pickering was a teammate of current BCC Head Coach Leah Francis at the University of Washington. Outfielder Dawn Norcross, two-year first team North-Region selection and 2008 NWAACC All-American selection, has committed to play for Montana State University-Billings. Norcross, a graduate of North Mason High School, finished her sophomore season with a .417 batting average, 10 homeruns and 52 RBI. MSU-Billings is a Division-2 school competing in the GNAC and is coached by former Big Bend CC coach Tony Stone. Joining Norcross at MSU will be second baseman Whitney Whittemore and pitcher Christine Miller-Long. Whittemore batted .420 with 6 homeruns and 40 RBI and was named to the North-Region first team in 2008. Miller-Long was a North-Region selection during both her freshman and sophomore seasons and finished the 2008 season with an 18-2 record, a 2.56 ERA and a .306 batting average. "I am so happy for each of these players," stated BCC head coach Leah Francis. "All four of them were an important part of this BCC program the past two years and have worked hard to earn the opportunity to continue their softball careers. Each of them will be greatly missed, but I know they will excel at the next level. They are all great leaders, teammates, dedicated players and represented BCC with class - I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to coach them. I am very proud of and excited for Erica, Dawn, Whitney and Christine and look forward to watching their continued success!"
