Despite a long trip to Ontario, Oregon, home to the Treasure Valley CC Chukars, the Bellevue College women’s soccer team stepped onto the pitch Saturday, Sept. 8, ready to play. BC freshman Alicia Bowman got right to work, knocking in goals in both the 13th and 15th minutes of the match. From that point forward, the game became one of defense for both teams. The next goal wasn’t scored until well into the second half when Bellevue’s Tatum Ross scored on an assist by Elaun Sherwood at minute 56. That opened the scoring floodgates for Bellevue with Bowman ripping in another goal at the 68th minute, assisted by Gabriella Rodriguez who then went for two goals of her own at the 73rd and 74th minutes. TVCC finally came in for two goals in the final eight minutes of play, but it was too little, too late, and the Bulldogs went home with the win, 6-2.
Head Coach Tao Shen said, “We controlled the game from beginning to end, and for us it was a must-win considering the 10-hour drive home. It was a great team bonding experience, and I thought we took full advantage of that opportunity.”
Next up, the Bellevue women host Yakima Valley CC on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 12 p.m.
