Women’s Soccer Starts Out 0-2
September 5, 2011

The Bellevue College women’s soccer team began its season this past Tuesday against Walla Walla at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. The game was a one-sided match in favor of Walla Walla who took control of the game early and never looked back. The game ended in a 5-0 loss for the Bulldogs as Walla Walla’s ability to share the ball was evident by seven players being involved with a goal or an assist.

After Tuesday’s tough match, the Bulldogs wasted no time going head to head with another quality NWAACC opponent, the Spokane Sasquatch. Bellevue battled in the first half forcing a 0-0 tie going into halftime. In the second half, mistakes turned costly as Briana Kerley broke the tie in the 54th minute on an assist from Tawny Thompson, and then in the 90th minute Spokane’s Alli Floyd closed the deal with a goal to put the Sasquatch up 2-0, and the game out of reach.

Coach Shen remains optimistic about the season ahead noting the effort of the team has been great, the quality of play has been improving of the course of these games, and that they are currently shorthanded due to injury. Bellevue will have a break to re-group and get healthy as they will host Skagit Valley on Wednesday, September 14th at 2PM.
