On Saturday, Jan. 5, Bellevue College Bulldogs women’s basketball opened the regular season against North Region rival, the Olympic College Rangers. Every league game carries with it special importance now as the top four teams at the end of the regular season - based on league record - go to the NWAACC Basketball Championship Tournament.
The Bulldogs got out of the gates quickly against the Rangers dominating play in the first half, holding the Rangers to 30% from the field on 6/20 shooting. At the half, Bellevue held a commanding 36-14 lead. In the second half, the Bulldogs extended their lead and finished the game with an 81-38 victory and a 1-0 start to the regular season. For Bellevue, Alexis Berrysmith led the way with 12 points and eight rebounds, Kaitlynn Bunger added 12 points of her own, and Taylor Anderson contributed another 11 points. Demarea Caples had eight rebounds and Chanel Cambronero had four assists and three steals for Bellevue.
