In their first outing under new co-head coaches Jeremy Eggers and Angela Jensen, the Bellevue College women’s basketball team took a 77-29 victory over the so-far winless Olympic College Rangers on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Bremerton. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Alexis Berrysmith’s double-double as she scored 14 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Bellevue women were good for strong scoring: Airashay Rogers also had 14 points, followed by starter Jori Hall’s 12, and Kaitlynn Bunger with 11. Though shooting from the floor was weak at only 39% for the game, success from the free-throw line, especially in the first half, kept the Bulldogs in the hunt.Six games remain (three, home; three away) in the regular season and to have the opportunity to make yet another appearance at the NWAACC Basketball Championship Tournament in March, Bellevue must complete the season as one of the top four teams in the North Region. Currently, standing at 6-2 league, 13-8 for the season, Bellevue is in a tie for second place with Skagit Valley, also 6-2 league. Whatcom leads the North at 7-1, 14-6. On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Bulldogs host the Shoreline Dolphins (2-6, 9-10), game time 5:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, Feb. 9, the Everett Trojans pay a visit to Bellevue for a match-up at 4:00 p.m.
