WOMEN’S BASKETBALL OPENER SUCCESSFUL
November 25, 2009
Bellevue Women’s Basketball traveled across the state to take part in the High Hopes Tip Off at Yakima Valley Nov. 20-22, the official basketball season opener. Despite a rough beginning on Friday with a loss to Walla Walla by the score of
64-74, the weekend improved significantly for the Bulldogs. On Saturday, they bounced back to beat Clark by 20 points, with the final in favor of Bellevue 64-44.
Sunday turned out to be stellar with an all-around team effort, according to BC women’s assistant coach, Alysse Carlson, as they went on to a 78-72 win over Lower Columbia. “Several of our players turned in really solid games throughout the weekend,” Carlson reported, but Sunday saw outstanding post play performance by sophomore Kayla Haines who produced a triple double: 31 points, 11 rebounds and 11 steals, and who was named to the All-Tournament Team. Also notable was the “standout leadership and floor/game control that was essential to our overall success by freshman point guard Danyelle Grayer,” said Carlson.
Bellevue women have Thanksgiving week off, but will be hosting a Holiday Tournament Dec. 4-6.
