BC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL OUT IN TWO

The Bellevue women’s basketball team lost both their first two games at the NWAACC Tournament, sending them home in the double-elimination format.
On Sat., March 6, the Bulldogs faced Clark College in a tightly played game that saw Clark holding a one-point lead at half-time. Both teams upped their games in the second half, but even with North Region MVP Alisha Love’s 19 points and 5 rebounds, Bellevue lost to the Penguins 56-58, moving the Bulldogs into the consolation bracket. Maddie Miller contributed 12 points and 3 rebounds, and while Kayla Haines was held to only 5 points, she roped in 6 rebounds and a steal.
Sunday, March 7, Bellevue’s opponent was the East’s Columbia Basin which had lost the previous day to Clackamas, the South Division Champions. With only four points separating them at the end of the first half, by the second half, Bellevue was running out of steam and lost their second game 53-76. Love again led Bellevue’s scoring with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals, while All-Star Tiffany Shen posted 16 point and 4 assists.
Bellevue women end the 2009-2010 season with a record of 19-9 overall. Well done, Bulldogs!
