BULLDOGS COMPLETE SWEEP OF ORCAS

Freshman Ashanii Jenkins led Bellevue to a 61-46 home win over Whatcom Community College on February 20, contributing a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures,as BCC completed a season sweep of Whatcom Community College, and set the stage for BCC to snag the number two seed to the NWAACC tournament with a win on Saturday.

Prior to tipoff, the Bulldogs honored their five sophomores who were playing their final home games in the BCC gymnasium. After struggling to a 24-24 tie at intermission, the Bulldogs opened things up in the second stanza, outscoring the Orcas 37-22 in the half, and sending sophomores Whitney Beyerlin, Danielle Bue, Alicia Tennyson, Lyndsee Landon, and Marissa Bower off with a 61-46 win in their final home game.

Freshman Ashanii Jenkins led four Bulldogs in double figures, recording a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow first years Kaneshia Brooks and Briana Lewis contributed 11 and 10 points respectively, and Landon turned in 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Next, Bellevue will travel to North Seattle Community College to face the Storm on Saturday February 23. North Seattle leads third place BCC by one game in the standings. Should the Bulldogs pull even with a victory, they would jump over the Storm and into the region's number two seed by way of the regional tie breaker. Tip time for Saturday's game will be at 5:30pm.
