BELLEVUE WOMEN STRUGGLE; FALL TO CARDINALS
February 19, 2008

Briana Lewis
Briana Lewis scored a career high 22 points, and added 5 rebounds and 3 steals, but it was not enough as Bellevue fell to Skagit Valley 49-59 on February 18.

Unable to find a rhythm offensively, the BCC women’s basketball team dropped their second decision of the year to Skagit Valley 59-49, snapping a five game winning streak.

Bellevue hung tight for most of the game, even taking a 22-21 lead into the half. A stifling zone defense by the Cardinals gave the Bulldogs fits and they were unable to find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball in the second half, while Skagit slowly pulled away. The BCC defense was once again strong holding Skagit to only 31% shooting for the game, but Bellevue couldn’t overcome their own woeful shooting, connecting on only 24.3% of their field goal attempts.

Leading the way for Bellevue was freshman Briana Lewis who scored a game high 22 points to go along with 5 boards and 3 steals. Also in double figures for the Bulldogs was sophomore Lyndsee Landon who added 11 points, grabbed a team high 7 boards, and dished out a team high 5 assists. Sophomore Marissa Bower grabbed 6 boards while blocking a game high 6 shots.

Next up the Lady Bulldogs will try for a sweep of Whatcom CC on Wednesday, February 20th at 5:30pm after defeating the Orcas 69-54 in their previous matchup this season.
