BULLDOG WOMEN BLOW LEAD, HANG ON FOR WIN
An ugly first half saw Bellevue clinging to a 26-21 lead at intermission, as the Bulldogs shot an abysmal 26.3%. Bellevue stretched their lead to 38-26 in the second half, only to see a determined Pirates team charge back into the game. Bellevue led by just two points in the final seconds, when a Peninsula player broke free in the open court. The Bulldogs caught a break, as the Pirates failed to convert the layup, and Marissa Bower recovered to block the put-back and preserve the victory. Freshman Ashanii Jenkins scored in double figures for the second consecutive game, tallying 12 points to lead Bellevue. The Bulldogs were buoyed by a 59-36 rebounding advantage, which help offset one of their worst shooting performances of the season (27.7%). Bower led the effort on the glass with 12 rebounds, while Lyndsee Landon added 11 boards to go along with 9 points, and Jenkins pulled down 9 rebounds of her own. |
