LADY BULLDOGS DROP REGIONAL OPENER
January 3, 2008
The BCC Women's Basketball team dug themselves out of an early hole, but could not get over the hump in the second half, falling 56-62 to Everett Community College. It was the Trojans' second win over Bellevue in as many games, as they defeated the Bulldogs 70-56 at the Edmonds CC Holdiay Tournament on December 29.
Everett jumped out of the gate to take a commanding 26-8 lead early, but the Bulldogs would not go easy, closing the gap to six points at 24-30 at the half. There were four lead changes in the second half, but BCC was unable to overcome cold shooting, hitting only 22 of their 86 shot attempts (25.6 percent). Forward Lyndsee Landon led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 8 rebounds, and Briana Lewis contributed 11 points and 3 steals. Leading scorer Marissa Bower had a horrendous shooting night, tallying just 2 points on 1 for 11 shooting, but did manage to contribute 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
Everett was led by the 24 points of Christina Shumacher and 17 points and 9 rebounds from Bryna Trescott.
