VOLLEYBALL FINISHES IN TOP SIX AT NWAACC TOURNAMENT The Bulldogs ended their season at the NWAACC Tournament the weekend of November 20-22 by winning their first two tournament matches against Treasure Valley 3-0 and Tacoma 3-0, but then fell to eventual champions Chemeketa 3-0 (50-0 record this season) in the semifinals. The Bulldogs then lost their consolation match to Clackamas 2-1. The women’s volleyball team finished 5th in the final NWAACC Polls. Congratulations to the women’s volleyball team and their coaches for a great season both on and off the court. VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO NWAACC CHAMPIONSHIPS! Coach Kim Werkau has the Bulldogs playing their best volleyball of the season at the right time and hopefully it will pay off for them in the tournament. The Bulldogs also claimed a number of all-league honors as the regular season has come to an end. Werkau was voted as Co-Coach of the Year, freshman outside hitter Savannah Feist and freshman libero Patti Reeves were voted first team All-North Region. Sophomore setter Juleea Perez was voted to the second team North Region. Reeves was also named the NWAACC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of November 11. This week the Bulldogs travel to Mt. Hood for the NWAACC Championships November 20-22. VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS FIRST PLACE TEAM! With both of the wins last week the Bulldogs are currently (9-2), tied with Whatcom for second in the North Division and only one game behind Edmonds for first in the division. The Bulldogs have already qualified for the NWAACC Tournament November 20-22 at Mt Hood CC. Also, Savannah Feist was named the North Division Player of the Week for the 4th time this season for her play the week of October 27-31. The BCC volleyball team is ranked #6 in the most recent NWAACC Polls. This week the Bulldogs travel to Bellingham November 12 to end their regular season with a huge match-up with the Whatcom Orcas (9-2) in what will most likely be the deciding game for second and third in the North Division. VOLLEYBALL TAKES SECOND AGAIN! The Bulldogs then took their Halloween costumes with them on the road October 31st and November 1st to the Mt. Hood Tournament and not only won the team costume contest, but also finished second in the tournament. Their only two losses on the weekend coming to tournament champions Chemeketa Storm (42-0). This week the Bulldogs host the Everett Trojans (2-8) in the team’s final home contest of the year November 5th at BCC Gymnasium at 7:00pm. They will travel to Edmonds to take on the North Division leaders the Tritons (9-0) November 7th at 7:00pm. VOLLEYBALL WINS ITS ONLY MATCH OF THE WEEK! This week the Bulldogs host the Shoreline Dolphins (2-6) October 29th at the BCC Gymnasium at 7:00pm and will travel to Mt Hood, OR for a tournament on October 31 and November 1. VOLLEYBALL SPLITS FOR THE WEEK! It was a match up of two 4-1 teams that decided who would keep pace with Edmonds for first place. The Bulldogs jumped out and showed the Orcas that they meant business in game one winning 25-20, but then the Orcas used their size advantage at the net, winning the next three straight games to take the match 3-1. The loss put the Bulldogs (4-2) into third place in the North Division. The Bulldogs (4-2) took out their frustrations of Monday’s loss on the Olympic Rangers October 15 by sweeping them at Olympic 3-0. This match was a great opportunity for the Bulldogs to get back on the winning track as well as get all 11 players playing time. The weekend gave the Bulldogs a chance to travel to Salem, Oregon, to participate in the Chemeketa Crossover Tournament. This was an opportunity for the Bulldogs to work out some of the kinks before returning to league play. BCC advanced all the way to the Championship match against host Chemeketa CC (35-0), but eventually lost (26-28, 19-25, 22-25. The Bulldogs landed three players on the All-Tournament team Savannah Feist, Patti Reeves, and Megan Robinson. The Bulldogs travel to Mount Vernon to take on the Skagit Valley Cardinals October 24th at 7:00pm in another North Division battle. VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS PLAYER HONORS! The Bulldogs (4-1) dropped their first division match to Edmonds CC (5-0) on October 8th (19-25, 19-25, 23-25) to fall to second place, one game behind the Tritons. The Bulldogs played well throughout most of the match, but down the stretch of all three games, Edmonds’ sophomore leadership was too much for the young and growing Bulldogs. Cheer on the Bulldogs as they host the Whatcom Orcas, Monday October 13th at 7:00pm in the BCC Gymnasium.
