VOLLEYBALL FINISHES REGULAR SEASON ON WINNING STREAK

The Bellevue College volleyball team concluded their regular season on November 9 by securing a victory over Whatcom CC, the NWAACC North Region Champions. Bellevue was looking for this to springboard them into the playoffs and they were successful, but the matches were hard-fought with of 25-21, 26-24, 25-19, and 25-23. Bellevue won the last three games to take the match.

Lisa Schouten and Emma Rogel both recorded double digit in kills for the match with 14 and 11 respectively. Veronica Wetzel as the team’s primary setter shined again with 41 assists. Dez Diego recorded 13 digs defensively to lead her team while Gabby Garrido contributed eight of her own. With this win, the Bulldogs finished the regular season on a three game winning streak which they will take into the NWAACC playoffs.

The NWAACC Volleyball Championship Tournament will be played at Mount Hood CC, Gresham, OR, Nov. 18-20. Bellevue will play against Mt. Hood in their first match at 4:30 PM on Thurs., November 18.

CHEERS TO 2010 NORTH REGION VOLLEYBALL ALL-STARS Veronica Wetzel, First Team; and Jessicca Weitman and Desiree Diego, Second Team. Bellevue’s own volleyball head coach Kim Culliton, was selected North Region Coach of the Year!

North Region Volleyball Sophomore Team honors also went to Lisa Schouten, Veronica Wetzel, Desiree Diego, Jenessa Reid, and Gabby Garrido.
