SOFTBALL STREAK STOPPED AT 26; BULLDOGS BOUNCE BACK TO SWEEP SKAGIT
Every win streak must come to an end, and for the BCC Softball tea their string of 26 consecutive wins was stopped short at Olympic College on April 26 by a superb performance from Rangers pitcher Erika Quint. The normally potent Bulldog offense was quieted by Quint's masterful control of a rising fastball and devastating changeup. BCC managed just seven hits in the two games. Bulldog pitchers Christine Miller-Long and Michelle Ruby were both outstanding-- allowing just four runs on nine hits in the two games-- but could do little with the Bellevue hitters bottled up. In spite of seeing their streak come to an end, the Bulldogs bounced back with a two game sweep of Skagit Valley College. Sophomore Erica Addison and freshman Lauren Smoot each blasted a pair of homeruns, and Ruby was sharp again as BCC claimed a 14-1 victory in game one. It was Addison again with the long ball in game two, and Miller-Long earning the win, as BCC took the win 13-5. |
