INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE
STUDENT-ATHLETES
What rules do I have to
abide by?
Students participating in an intercollegiate sport
at a NWAACC member college must abide by the eligibility rules of
the association and the rules of the college you are attending.

Must I have graduated
from high school?
The student athlete must be a high school graduate,
or the class year of which they were a member must have graduated.

How many seasons may I
participate in a sport?
Students are allowed two seasons of competition
in any sport at the community/junior college level if they have
not previously participated at any intercollegiate level. Playing
in any portion of any regularly scheduled event or contest counts
as a season of participation in that sport.

What are the basic
eligibility rules?
Termed the 12-12-36 + 2.00 rule, NWAACC athletes
must:
- Be officially enrolled for 12 credits during each quarter of participation
- Have passed a minimum of 12 credits the quarter prior to participating
- Earned a minimum of 36 credits prior to competing in a second year in the
same sport, starting with and including the first quarter of the first season of participation.
In addition, to participate a second season, they
must maintain a 2.00 cumulative GPA during any quarter of participation.

What are the requirements
for transfer students?
If a transfer from a college or university which
is not a member of the NWAAC, the student must:
- Complete 12 quarter credits the term prior to participating
- Be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits while participating.
- If the transfer participated previously, they must then satisfy
the 36 credits rule and 2.00 GPA.

What are the
requirements for a transfer student?
Students planning to transfer to a four year
college should familiarize themselves with the transfer rules for
both four year intercollegiate organizations: NCAA and NAIA. Generally,
if a student meets the NWAACC eligibility requirements and graduates
with an associate degree, they will be eligible at a four-year college
or university.

What kind of grant can
I receive from a NWAACC member college?
An athletic grant may be awarded to any full time student
in recognition of her/his athletic ability, as determined by the head coach in compliance with NWAACC eligibility regulations. Renewal of aid is at the discretion of the head coach, and is subject
to the student maintaining eligibility, normal progress towards graduation, and being in compliance with all of the eligibility requirements of the institution and the NWAACC.
An athletic grant is limited to
a maximum:
- Washington Colleges: Up to $720 per quarter (fall, winter and spring) in total scholarship and tuition waivers, up to a maximum of $2060 per year.
- Oregon and Washington Colleges: Campus employment with net earnings
of $1,500 per year.
An athletic grant is awarded exclusive of state,
federal and community aid sources for which the student may qualify,
usually on the basis of need.
