MEN'S SOCCER WINS TWO
October 2, 2007
The Men’s Soccer team secured a pair of critical wins last week to takeover sole possession of second place in the West Region. On Wednesday, September 26 the Bulldogs traveled to Port Angeles to take on Peninsula College. The game was scoreless until a goal by freshman Fatih Pamukci (Germany) in the 45th minute put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0. The match remained tight, until Pamukci struck again in the 80th minute with another unassisted goal that helped secure the win. Sophomore keeper Claudio Lazar (France) played tough in goal, recording the shutout for the Bulldogs.
The second game of the week came on September 29, when BCC hosted Tacoma Community College. Chris Fleck (FR, Woodinville HS) got the Bulldogs on the board early with a goal in the 9th minute, but Tacoma came back to tie the score just two minutes later. The two teams remained in a stalemate until Bulldogs leading scorer Vinni Oliveira (FR, Sammamish HS) scored in the 34th minute. Another Oliveira goal in the 66th minute put the game away, and BCC went on to claim a 3-1 victory.
The second place Bulldogs will attempt to keep pace with West Region leader Highline Community College in a pair of road games. The Bulldogs will travel to Lakewood to take on Pierce College on Friday, September 5 at 4:00pm, before traveling to Vancouver, WA to face Clark College (ranked #1 in the most recent NWAACC coaches poll) on Saturday September 6 at 2:00pm. Bellevue holds a half game lead over third place Peninsula in the West Region, where the top two finishers will advance to the NWAACC Championships.
