THREE BULLDOGS NET ALL-REGION AWARDS
March 11, 2008
Three of BCC's four sophomores were honored as all league performers in 2008 by the coaches of the Northern Region.
Josh Monagle, BCC's leading scorer and rebounder, finished runner-up in the conference player-of-the-year voting, and was named a member of the All-Region First Team. With team high averages of 16.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and a 59.5% field goal percentage, Monagle was a force inside throughout the season for Bellevue. He was named First Team All-Tournament at the Pierce College Invitational and was Tournament MVP at the Southern Region Crossover Tournament at Lane Community College. After leading the Bulldogs in scoring at the 2008 NWAACC Championships, Josh recieved Second Team All Tournament honors.
After earning First Team All-Region honors as a freshman, point guard Steve Wiseley once again found himself among the top 10 players in the conference, earning a spot on the All-Region Second Team as a sophomore. Wiseley finished the season on a tear, averaging 14.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in Bellevue's final four games. For the season, he scored 11 points per game, and dished out 4.6 assists per night, while leading Bellevue in steals with nearly two per contest.
Joining Wiseley on the All-Region Second Team is sophomore transfer Michael Duty. After a slow start to the year, Duty came on strong in league play, finishing the season with averages of 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per night. He led the Bulldogs in blocked shots and dunks, and was second on the team in assists, all while shooting a very respectable 50.7 percent from the field.
All three of Bellevue's All-Conference honorees were selected to play in the NWAACC Sophomore All-Star Games at BCC on March 9, where they displayed their skills in front of a host of fans and college coaches. Comcast Digital Cable subscribers can catch a free replay of the All-Star games via the company's On Demand service.
