BULLDOGS WEATHER THE STORM; SINGLETON NETS CAREER HIGH
Coming off a disappointing loss at Whatcom, the BCC men's basketball team bounced back at home in a big way, thumping the North Seattle Community College Storm 87-60 on January 26. With the victory, Bellevue improves to 14-6 on the season and 6-2 in league play. Never trailing, the Bulldogs played with a purpose jumping out at a 44-23 halftime lead. The second half was more of the same as Bellevue stayed in control and never let the Storm back in the ballgame. BCC dominated the boards outrebounding Seattle 49 to 28. They also displayed unselfish play, racking up 21 assists and collected a season high 18 steals. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was freshman Curron Singleton, who exploded for a career high 28 points on 10 for 15 shooting including 5 for 8 from downtown. Singleton was also a force defensively adding 4 steals and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Michael Duty was also in double figures for Bellevue adding 15 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Freshman Lorenzo Campbell got the start for BCC and responded with 8 points 7 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Freshman Travis Sterling came off the bench to grab10 boards and collect 5 steals—both team highs—while dishing out 4 assists. Next up for the Bulldogs will be a pivotal road game Wednesday January 30th against Everett Community College. The Bulldogs defeated a short handed Everett squad 85-81 to start league play on January 2, but the two teams find themselves in a three-way tie for second place with Peninsula College with identical 6-2 conference records. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
