BULLDOGS BOUNCE BACK, BEAT HIGHLINE
December 10, 2007

The BCC Men’s Basketball team
recovered from a lackluster home opener by rolling to a convincing victory over rival Highline Community College by a score of 74-59 on Friday, December 7. The Bulldogs, who last week suffered a tough 50-69 home opening setback at the hands of the top-ranked Sasquatch of the Community Colleges of Spokane, took the court with a renewed fire.

Bellevue trailed just once, 0-2 after Highline scored the first basket. Sophomore guard Steve Wiseley sparked an early Bulldog run with a pair of three pointers early on, and Bellevue went into the half with a 38-29 lead.

The Bulldogs were relentless in the second half, withstanding several Thunderbird runs, and countering with unselfish offense and stalwart defense. The Bulldogs recorded 21 assists in scoring their 26 baskets, while forcing 24 Highline turnovers and holding the Thunderbirds to 38.7% shooting from the field.

Wiseley finished with 10 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals, while fellow Sophomore Josh Monagle played a stellar all around game, contributing 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Freshman Sam Cartmell turned in 15 points in his return from an ankle injury, while Sophomore Michael Duty scored in double figures for the third straight game with 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Comcast digital cable subscribers can access a free replay of the game by way of the company's On Demand service. Under "local content" select "local sports" and "BCC Basketball".

The win improved Bellevue's record to 4-3 and gives the Bulldogs much needed confidence heading into a challenging weekend. On Friday, December 14th, the Bulldogs will be in Eugene, Oregon for a three day Crossover Tournament at Lane Community College. A strong tournament field features several of the top teams from around the NWAACC. Bellevue's next home game is slated for December 28, when BCC will take on Yakima Valley Community College at 7:30pm.
