BULLDOGS DEFEAT SKAGIT VALLEY, TIE FOR FIRST January 22, 2008

Steve Wiseley
All-NWAACC sophomore point guard Steve Wiseley scored a career best 21 points and dished out 7 assists in leading BCC to a 92-85 victory at Skagit Valley College on January 21.

The Bulldog men found themselves in a tight spot early in their game at Skagit Valley College on January 21, with their top three scorers sitting for much of the first half saddled with foul trouble.  Nevertheless, the Bulldog bench buoyed the team, and Bellevue emerged with a hard fought 82-75 victory over the Cardinals.

With Steve Wiseley, Josh Monagle, and Michael Duty all sitting with early fouls, BCC got gritty play from their reserves, and found themselves trailing by 3 at half despite Skagit Valley shooting a torrid 6 for 10 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs regrouped in the second half, and at one point built a 13 point lead.  Always protective of their home court, the Cardinals whittled the lead down to three late in the game, but Wiseley nailed five of six free throws down the stretch to preserve the 92-85 victory, and improve his team’s record to 5-1 in league play and 13-5 overall.

The Bulldogs were paced by Wiseley, who put up a career high 21 points and dished out a game high 7 assists to go along with 2 steals.  Freshman guard Sam Cartmell also had a big game scoring 19 points grabbing 5 rebounds and adding 4 steals. Sophomore forwards Michael Duty and Josh Monagle, limited by foul trouble, scored 16 and 14 points apiece.
