BULLDOGS WEATHER STORM; WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT
The BCC men’s basketball team closed out the regular season on a high note Saturday, defeating the North Seattle Community College Storm 80-75 to clinch a tie for second place in the North Region. Leading from the tip, the Bulldogs coasted early, going up 17 points at halftime and leading by as many as 18 in the second half before a surge by the Storm closed to gap to 2. With a North Region championship still up for grabs, the Bulldogs refused to let North Seattle pull off the improbable comeback, getting key baskets down the stretch from freshmen Sam Cartmell and Curron Singleton to seal their fourth consecutive victory. Also in double figures for the Bulldogs were sophomores Josh Monagle and Steve Wiseley along with Cartmell who all added 15 points to round out the scoring. Monagle narrowly missed a double-double grabbing a game high 9 rebounds to go along with a game high 3 steals. BCC finishes the regular season with a 20-8 record including 12-4 in league play. BCC finished tied with Whatcom Community College for the region’s second best record, while Peninsula claimed the title and snapped Bellevue’s three year reign as regional champs.
