Honors Arrive for Bulldog Basketball; Eggers Named Coach of the Year

Bellevue Community College's men's basketball recently received several honors following the end of regular season play. In addition to being named co-champions of the North Region, Bulldogs Head Coach Jeremy Eggers, in only his second year, was named Coach of the Year by his region coaching peers. After being hired in the fall of 2003, Eggers took a group of walk-ons to the region playoffs last year. This season, with his first real recruiting class in place, Eggers catapulted the Bulldogs from a .500 club to one of the top teams in the Pacific Northwest with a final regular season record of 12-4 in league and 21-7 overall. The record also reflects three forfeit losses in the pre-season. Bellevue finished with a 5th in NWAACC ranking in the final coaches' poll. They also placed two players on the first team all-region squad; David White and Bryce Daub. White, who has already signed a letter of intent to play at Seattle University next fall, led the team in scoring with a 14.8 ppg average. The 6-8 post also averaged six rebounds per game and blocked 42 shots over the season. Daub, a freshman out of nearby Newport HS, was Bellevue's all-around contributor, with game averages of 13.1 points and 6.4 (team high) rebounds. Daub also led the Bulldogs with 39 steals this season.
