Bellevue College Bulldogs men’s basketball opened North Region play with a matchup against the Rangers of Olympic College on Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Bellevue wasted no time in this important league game and jumped out to an early double-digit lead. The Bulldogs played suffocating defense, particularly in the second half when they held the Rangers to just 37% shooting and 22 total points. A balanced attack on offense that saw six different Bulldogs score in double digits, combined with their defensive effort, led Bellevue to an 87-55 victory. Bellevue was led in scoring by sophomore Marcus Tibbs who scored all 16 of his points in the first half. Tibbs also grabbed six rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals. Freshman Reggie Clinton came off the bench to lead the team with seven rebounds and 13 points. Sophomore Alec Wilson played his first game of the year and promptly hit four three-point shots to finish with 14 points. Freshman Daniel Greer had another highlight reel dunk among his 11 points. Sophomores Andrew Squiers and Tyler Stracener each scored 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for the Bulldogs. This brings Bellevue to 1-0 on the league season, 9-4 overall.

Bellevue's next North Region game takes the Bulldogs on the road to Shoreline Community College (0-1, 1-9) to take on the Dolphins on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Then, the Bulldogs travel to Everett Community College (1-0, 8-5) on Saturday, Jan. 12 to play the Trojans at 6:00 p.m.
