On December 29, the Bellevue men's basketball team hosted the Washington Athletic Club in their final pre-region game of the season. The WAC team was made up of former college basketball players from Boise State, Seattle University, and Seattle Pacific University. Early in the year the Bulldogs lost an exhibition game to the WAC by a final score of 98-76. Bellevue needed a win to complete their undefeated run before the beginning of league play.
The Bulldogs rose to the occasion and jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. Bellevue led by a score of 44-41 at the half and eventually pulled out a victory with a final score of 98-86. Bellevue was led in scoring by sophomore Jon Humphrie with 23 points. Rex Nelson added 22 points and led the team in rebounding with eight. Freshmen Keaton Hayenga scored 12 points. Eric Turner and Andrew Squires rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points each.
With the win the Bulldogs head into North region play with a 10-0 record. Bellevue is the last remaining undefeated team in the NWAACC. The Bulldogs open up league play with a trip to Bremerton to take on the Olympic College Rangers. The game will be played at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
