BC MEN’S BASKETBALL TAKES 3RD AT PIERCE TOURNEY
November 29, 2010

Coming from a week off from practice forced by snow and icy road conditions, the Bellevue College men’s basketball team hit the boards to take two out of three games played Nov. 26-27, at the annual Pierce College Thanksgiving Tournament.

First up, the Bulldogs faced the Titans of Lane CC, and with five of the Bellevue men scoring in double digits, Bellevue closed out the first half with a 17-point lead, which they widened to 30 points and a final score of 87-57 over Lane. Sophomore Cedric Clarington and frosh Jonathan Humphrie each were good for 20 points, while Brad Valentine and Daniel Simon pulled down 11 each, and Malcholm Love nailed in 10.

On the second day, host Pierce College, turned the tide on the Bulldogs, and Bellevue couldn’t buy a basket in the first half. Coming back onto the court, the teams began trading baskets, but despite Clarington’s 18 points and Humphrie’s 17 for the game, Bellevue couldn’t fully make up the first half deficit and fell to Pierce 69-78.

Sunday, the Bulldogs rallied, playing South Puget Sound for the third place trophy. Humphrie, Clarington and Valentine again shot in double digits, joined on that day by BC freshman Dallas Searles who was good for 12. The Bulldogs shot 75% for free throws and ended up with a 72-67 victory over SPS.

Bellevue men next host Yakima on Dec. 10 at 5 PM.
