BULLDOGS HANG ON TO THIRD PLACE
January 31, 2011

The Bellevue College men's basketball team bounced back from their loss at Whatcom last week with two big wins to complete the first round of North Division play. On Wednesday, Jan. 26, the Bulldogs traveled to Everett to take on the Trojans in their brand new gym. Bellevue defeated Everett 95-68 as every player scored for the Bulldogs. Bellevue was also able to hold Everett to just 37% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs were led by Cedric Clarington's 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Daniel Simon (10), Malcholm Love (10), and Calvin Bonner (11) were the other Bulldogs in double figures.

Bellevue hosted Edmonds on Saturday, Jan. 29, and once again the Bulldogs relied on a stingy defense that limited the Tritons to 35% shooting in a 75-57 win. Bellevue also out rebounded Edmonds 47-36 and
forced 22 turnovers. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Simon and Dallas Searles who each scored 15 points. Love continued his scoring streak as he finished with 12 points all coming in the second half.

The Bulldogs completed the first round of North Division play with a 6-2 record placing them third in league standings. Bellevue is just a game back of Skagit Valley and Peninsula who sit tied in first place at 7-1. The Bulldogs have an important week ahead of them as they go on the road to take on a talented Shoreline team Weds., Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m., then host the first place Peninsula Pirates on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.

Both the Bellevue College women’s and men’s home basketball games Saturday, Feb. 5, will be broadcast live on Bellevue College cable channel 28.
