BULLDOGS NIP RANGERS 87-74 The Bellevue College men's basketball team welcomed visitor Olympic College from Bremerton on Saturday, Feb. 12. It was the last televised game for the Bulldogs. Olympic came into the game playing some of their best basketball of the year after a big win against Everett CC, however, Bellevue’s strong defensive effort kept the Bulldogs among the top three teams of the North Division after the dust had settled. The Bulldogs started the game on a 19-2 run and lead 42-27 at halftime, a 15-point spread that would be significant in the second half. With half time over, the Rangers came back on the court with determination and canned 47 baskets to the Bulldogs 45 in the second half. Bellevue matched Olympic’s determination, added persistence, and eventually won 87-74 to bring the Bellevue men’s record to 9-2 league, 14-6 on the season. The Bulldogs had five players score in double figures led by the 15 points of Dallas Searles, who also contributed seven rebounds. Malcohlm Love came off the bench to score 11 points. Rex Nelson, Daniel Simon, and Cedric Clarington rounded out the double figure scoring with 15, 12, and 10, respectively. Antonio Gonzalez led the Bulldogs with eight rebounds and seven assists. Bellevue takes to the road on Wednesday, Feb. 16, to play Skagit Valley (10-2, 12-9) at 7 p.m. in Mount Vernon. The Bulldogs are currently a half game behind the Cardinals who come into the game sharing first place with Peninsula. Another road came follows Saturday, Feb. 19, with Bellevue playing a 6 p.m. game at North Seattle (4-8, 5-15).
