Marilyn Anderson
Women's Athletic Commissioner
After a brief hiatus away from athletics, Marilyn Anderson
returns to her post as women's athletic commissioner for Bellevue
College. She also spent three years as athletic director
from 1996 - 1998. As the commissioner, Anderson serves as the liaison
between coaches and the NWAACC regarding issues concerning league
codes, interpreting and clarifying league rules and regulations,
and represents the department in voting on conference-wide sport
issues. She is the former chair for the NWAACC Women's Basketball
Committee from 1995-1997. She was a member of that committee beginning
in 1993, and was responsible for overseeing the Coach of the Year
and all-league selections. Anderson is also a recent recipient of the Dutch Triebwasser Award which is given by the NWAACC to an outstanding leader in the NWAACC in 2010.
A 1964 graduate of Oxnard HS in Oxnard,
CA, Anderson obtained her B.S. in mathematics from the University
of Redlands, CA in 1968. She later received her M.S. in the same
field from the University of Washington in 1974. Here teaching career
began in 1972 at CTC Educational Systems. She has been a full-time
math faculty member since 1978. Anderson took a sabbatical leave
in 1999 and returned a few years ago. She also has teaching experience
in computer programming as well.
An avid supporter who is frequently
seen at several BC sporting events, Anderson resides in Bothell
and has three children, sons Sean, Brian, and daughter Carrie. She also has a grandson; Zachary.
