Bulldogs Spring Golf
April 12, 2011
Heron Lakes Golf Club just north of downtown Portland, Oregon, was the destination for the Bellevue College men’s and women’s golf teams the weekend of April 10-11, as they competed in the NWAACC Neutral Site Tournament.
At the close of the first round, Bellevue men’s team was in the lead with a team total of 294, four strokes ahead of Spokane’s team total of 298. There was a reversal of fortunes on the second day, with Spokane’s team shooting 303 to Bellevue’s 307, resulting in a playoff which the Bulldogs eventually lost. Bellevue’s Alex Mroz finished the tourney in a tie for second place at 148 (72-76) with Olympic’s Eric Nelson, only three strokes off the winner’s pace at 145.
Bellevue women secured a second place finish as well, with freshman Tiffany Brunjes (94-86) coming in sixth overall for individual women.
Next up for the teams will be the Skagit Valley College Cardinal Invitational, May 1-2, in Mount Vernon.
