Bellevue Avoids Sweep With 4-1 Win On Sunday; Awaits Playoffs
May 11, 2010

Bellevue College baseball avoided a sweep by league-rival Edmonds by winning 4-1 on Mother’s Day before losing the nightcap 12-3. The day before, Bellevue was swept by scores of 8-2 and 14-1.  Bellevue’s pitchers yielded 48 hits to Edmonds’ hitters over the weekend series. On Saturday May 8, Bellevue committed eight errors in the field, including four in one inning which game Edmonds a six-run fourth inning to seal the win. In game two, pitcher Jake Collier spotted Edmonds a 4-0 lead in the first as Edmonds ran away with a 14-1 win.  On Sunday May 9, Seafth Howe struck out five in his third straight complete game win.  Ryan Burnett, Ian Parmley, and Dan Schmidt each had two hits to lead Bellevue. Howe also won on three days’ rest, pitching Bellevue to a 2-0 win over Skagit Valley on Wednesday May 5.  Bellevue regular season is now completed with a bye this upcoming weekend.  The Bulldogs will likely be the third seed in next weekend’s North Region Tourney, a four-team double-elimination tourney to determine the top two berths to the NWAACC Championships.
