Attendance

Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class.  I expect to begin class on time each day.  If you are late, you will receive only ˝ point for that day.  Be considerate of your classmates and help create a positive learning environment by being on time and ready to begin work at 9:30 a.m. each day.

If you must be absent from class, get in touch with one of your classmates to find out what you have missed.  I cannot contact students who are absent and fill them in about make-up work.  If you are absent the day an assignment is due, it is your responsibility to turn the assignment in the day you return to class.

Expectations

You will do a lot of work during class and are also expected to do at least five hours of work at home each week.  Please come to class prepared to ask questions, demonstrate what you have learned, and work with your classmates.  The classroom will be a place where you can actively practice what you are learning and get feedback and help from classmates as well as the instructor.  This will not be a “warm body” class—we are all responsible for making it a success.  With open minds and good attitudes, this should be easy.

I expect all people in the classroom to treat each other with respect.  Please read the Bellevue College Student Code in the Student Handbook.

I expect you to present your own ideas in your own words.  I will not accept any writing which includes someone else’s ideas, words or facts unless you have used quotation marks and cited your sources.  If you have questions about plagiarism, I will be happy to answer them.

For additional information on student procedures and expectations, consult the Arts & Humanities website:  http://www.bcc.ctc.edu/artshum/policy.html.
