COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To review and strengthen reading and writing skills and general knowledge of five areas in the GED Exam: writing, social studies, science, literature, and mathematics. The class work and practice tests will be done in Spanish in order to prepare for the GED in Spanish. The class is designed to also help improve English skills, and will be taught in English unless explanations are needed for clarification.
2. To write paragraphs and essays clearly.
3. To review basic arithmetic, study concepts in algebra and geometry, and develop skills to solve mathematical story problems.
4. To evaluate from your studies and practice tests when to take the actual GED test, the college entrance exam, or enroll in a credit English course, or ESL course.
5. To learn test-taking strategies for multiple-choice tests.
6. To learn attitudes and behaviors for successful test taking and a successful college career.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS
1. Promptly attend and actively participate in each class. Attend all classes except in cases of illness or emergency. Call me if you need to miss class at 425-564-2266.
2. Share ideas during class and complete all class work and homework activities.
3. Be respectful of yourself and others when sharing ideas.
4. Ask questions or request clarification about topics, class activities and/or assignments.
5. Establish and reevaluate test readiness throughout the quarter.

EVALUATION
1. Assessment will be given throughout the quarter at individual levels. Assessment tools include GED practice tests and a CASAS post-test. You will not be re-enrolled in the program if you do not sit for the CASAS post-test.
2. At the end of the quarter, the following evaluations will be given to indicate your progress: C for completion of a level, P for progress, and A for attendance but no progress.
3. Recommendation will be given at the end of the quarter for continued class participation or advancement.
