Cultural Pluralism: Japanese-American Evacuation During World War II
Don't miss out on your chance to take this exciting course.
On February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt signed executive Order 9066 authorizing the removal from the West Coast of approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans, two-thirds of whom were citizens of the United States. This course examines several questions related to the evacuation. Why did the United States government decide to remove and confine Japanese Americans from the West Coast? Was it because of long-standing anti-Japanese sentiment? Was it because of long-standing anti-Japanese racism? What other factors impacted the signing of Executive Order 9066?
