The Department of Applied Linguistics and Language (ALL) at Bellevue College houses a series of 100 level, credit courses developed to polish the academic writing, reading, listening, speaking and critical thinking strategies of lower division, non-native speakers of English transferring to four year institutions or entering the American workforce.
The multi-disciplinary curricula have been developed by faculty at Bellevue College in cooperation with faculty from and based on credit courses offered at other US and foreign institutions. ALL courses are applicable towards the Associate in Arts and Sciences degree and/or counted toward graduation credits at four-year institutions.
Faculty in the department are native speakers of English with advanced degrees in Second Language Acquisition. They have lived abroad and taught ESL and related disciplines for a number of years. ALL faculty have been carefully selected based on their professional education, experience, and desire to teach non-native speakers.
