Ginny Banks grew up on the east coast in Delaware where she attended the University of Delaware. Her BS degree is in graphic design. It was at the university that she started taking photography classes and a passion was born.
Ginny’s history as a designer enabled her to have a variety of experiences from working for a university, multimedia firm, ad agency and various design studios where she collaborated with a number of commercial photographers. She received her MFA in visual design from Tyler School of Art while continuing her fine art photography.
She went back to get her MFA in photography from Clemson University. Her work is largely about identity and self-portraiture/portraiture. She is currently involved in a documentary project concerning the recovery of homeless people.
