Jeffrey Lloyd Silverman is an independent producer for Blueberry
Productions of Anchorage, Alaska. He produced, directed and
co-wrote the film For
the Rights of All: Ending Jim Crow in Alaska.
This movie was the last movie directed by the late Phil
Lucas. Jeff also composed and produced most of the music for
the film.
To Jeff, Phil was a long-time dear friend and collaborator. They first
worked together in 1997 on a cultural film for the Alaska Native
Heritage Center. Jeff produced it and Phil edited
it. Phil was
For the Rights of All's first director and was
to edit the film as well. According to Jeff: "Phil was one of
the few truly talented people who had sensitivity to the subject and
understood and had worked with Alaska Natives before. He was
irreplaceable. So when he died suddenly, we did not look for
another director, but rather continued on, trying to maintain our
shared vision and finish a film that would do justice to Phil's career.
I'm proud to have Phil's son, Jessie, performing in the film as a
musician."
For Jeff, it has been an honor to have been given the opportunity to
help share this remarkable story from Alaska's history.
