Online Course Student Evaluations

Sadashivan asked: I would love to get some ideas on how to
get students
to do the course evaluations! The last time I taught online, none of
them did it...
Here are your suggestions :
I personally don't like giving "points" for evaluations, so
I tend to
make it a required assignment but not assign points to it. I generally
get good response rates. ~Gwyn Jones
I gave all students that did one 10 extra points on their
Daily Work Score. I simply had them e-mail me that they had completed
one. I routinely had 70 to 80% responses. ~Dale Gleason
Some faculty require the student to take a screen
shot of the "thanks for submitting the eval" page to show that they
have completed the evaluation. Here are some how-to instructions for
screen shots
those who want them. ~Mary
Slowinski
I've heard from other faculty that they just ask student to
let them know what a specific question is from the actual evaluation
form -- i.e., # 14 question is "...", and grant the extra credit points
based on the response from students. ~ Liz Anderson
My grading philosophy excludes "extra credit" but that is
another discussion for another day. I am not sure the screen shot (Alt
PrtScn) workswell in BB Vista. So - I have begun to do something
like this (below). ~Marcia Williams
This
assignment has two parts. Both parts must be completed by the due date
and time in order to earn credit. The due date and time is
set by the college and I cannot extend it.
