CLASSROOM  POLICIES

            ATTENDANCE:

Attendance and respectful participation in the class is the way you                                  can positively influence your grade. Late arrival to the class is a                                 disruption to your classmates and your instructor and will be                              treated as an absence. You are expected to be on time and attend                the full time. Should you miss a class, it is your responsibility to                           get notes or handouts from classmates.  Your instructor will                               neither repeat nor give a private lecture.  Role will be taken either                                  by roll sheet passed around the class, or by the instructor.  It is your             responsibility to sign the roll sheet each day you attend.  Absences will hurt            your grade at the end of the quarter.

            LATE WORK:

Papers:  All late papers are deducted 10% of the total points per paper per       calendar day.  What this means is that the maximum grade for a 100 point paper   one day late will be 90 points, the maximum letter grade an A-.  A paper two days          late would be worth 80 points, the maximum letter grade B-.  You are   responsible for your work.  Part of that responsibility is managing your time to         coincide with class time.

Doctor’s appointments, advising appointments, computer breakdowns, printer   collapse, etc., are not valid reasons for missing class or deadlines.  If you know       you are going to miss due dates, you may hand in your assignments early.

Exam, and Quizzes:  No provisions will be made for makeup exams or quizzes.

Please do not ask for exceptions. Unless you have an emergency  situation which you will have to prove through documents!!!

Cheating/ Plagiarism:  Cheating includes using notes during a test, looking off             another person’s test during an exam, and/or using the text book during an exam.

Whenever a student has an occasion to use someone else’s work, even if only a             single phrase, he/she must indicate this fact by quotation marks.  If he/she borrows without acknowledging a source he/she is plagiarizing.

PLAGIARISM AND CHEATING ARE SUFFICIENT GROUNDS  FOR     FAILING THE COURSE.
