Class Description

Class piano is designed to provide basic keyboard experience for non-music majors, and prepare beginning music majors for the piano-competency requirement.  Studies will include rudimentary technique, theory, musical interpretation and learning to play/understand simple chord/harmonic structures.

Contemporary Class piano, Fifth Edition, Elyse March, Oxford University Press, 1996.

Attendance is vital to success in this class.  Tests missed because of absence can not be made up without express permission of the instructor.  You may communicate with me by email/phone at your convenience.  Good listening/observing , as well as active participation is vital in obtaining a good grade.  Grading breakdown: 20%-Mid-Term, 20%-Final, 20%-Participation/Effort, 20% - Quizzes, 10%-Attendance, 10%-Discretionary Points given by instructor as a rating of student involvement/progress in class.
