TEXTS

 

            The Musician’s Guide To Theory and Analysis”, by Clendinning & Marvin, (includes: Workbook, Anthology, and Aural Skills vol. 1), and “Ear Training 2nd Edition” by horvit, Koozin, and Nelson. (Both required).      

 

SUPPLIES

 

            Three ring binder, manuscript paper, No. 2 pencils (no pens), erasers

 

GRADING

 

            Grades will be based on the following:

 

            25%    Attendance

            15%    Ear training/Sight Singing Assignments

            10%    Pratica Musica

            20%    MidTerm Exam

            30%    Final Exam

 

COURSE ORGANIZATION

 

            Music III involves three separate skill areas: Music Theory, Ear Training and Sight Singing. Typically, Theory will involve written exercises and lecture demonstrations and will usually be covered MWF. Ear Training and Sight Singing will involve note reading, singing, rhythm, intervals, and vocalizes usually covered T, TH. We will meet in the piano lab every other Friday.

 

TUTORING

            Tutoring is available at no cost to students who need extra help in this course. It is provided by BCC free of charge. Pleawe contact Mr. Almli if you feel you need tutoring.
