Grading: 1) The final grade will be a composite of: Total . . . 1000 point
Quiz: total of 400 points Final Exam: 200 points
Homework: 100 points Attendance and class participation: 300 points
* Student’s conversational skills will be evaluated based on class discussions.
* Attendance: Each absence will result in a loss of 10 points

This semester we will study
Quiz: Quizzes will evaluate listening,
conversational, and writing skills based on the textbook. There will be a total of 2 quizzes. The
instructor will give a handout before each quiz, which covers the materials to
be tested. Students can take a makeup exam (Only student has reasonable reason),
for missed quizzes by arrangement with the instructor.
At the end of this course, students are expected to be able to read some kanji and write some kanji. Student will also able to ask and response and to exchange information.
Drop procedure: If unable to complete this course, it is your responsibility to formally withdraw by the official due day. Failure to do so will result in an automatic “F” grade. Should a special situation arise after the designated withdrawal date, you must speak with the instructor.
Missed Class Policy: If you miss a class, you are responsible for getting missed lecture notes and other materials from classmates. I will not likely provide materials after the missed class.
Late Arrival Policy: If you arrive after I have taken attendance, you will receive only half credit for the day’s attendance after you have reported to me.
Extra Credit Assignments: There will be no extra credit assignments.
