Essay #2 (#093)
Each of the following is worth a possible 20 points:
- First/introductory
paragraph is the size of a small paragraph and includes a main
thesis/central idea which is stated clearly and understood by the reader
(in one sentence).
- The
essay reads smoothly throughout this piece, provides connective
transitions from point to point, paragraph to paragraph, and has an ending
with a sense of closure.
- Use of
sensory details and strong action words (verbs) are found. Verbs
are used
correctly in terms of tenses, person, and form.
- The
writing provides a balance when discussing the various characteristics or
aspects of each point being made in this comparison/contrast essay.
- The
writing is clear of general grammar/editing problems for this #093 level
work. (If the problems are too
severe, the points taken off could be higher than the allotted 20 points
for this part.) The instructor keeps in mind that by the end of the
quarter, the student is prepared for the strict grammar/editing
requirements for English #101.
