Course
requirements
During the
whole of the quarter, each student is expected
to participate fully in the life of the
Design
Studio in
addition to the completion of assigned projects on time; this means regular
attendance, arriving on time, a sense of studio etiquette, and participation in
class discussions and critiques. An open dialog and critique are an
integral part of the 2-D curriculum in all colleges and universities across the
U.S.A
A binder is to be kept for in-class exercises,
all sketches, ideas, and notes. It will be graded towards the end of the
quarter. Please
use an Itoya 11 x 14 inch binder with clear
plastic inserts.
1. First
page is the cover page of your exercises.
Include information such as name, class and times, plus either phone or e-mail
incase it should get lost. An original design would be most attractive to
enhance the personal feeling of your binder.
2.
Include first, all exercises in order. Label on front side at the
bottom accordingly. Missing exercises receive “0” credit and lower the
overall grade
3. Next
include projects if
they fit into the inserts, if not, photocopy and
shrink to an appropriate size. Also include, in order with the projects,
any appropriate sketches and plans for finished projects. Follow the order of
work assigned in class. It’s important to be clear.
4.
Finally, include a glossary
:
Approximate 40 visual design and art terms related to the subject of our
class. You might want to check the rear section of Lauer’s “Design Basics” where
a glossary is located.
Grading Completing all of the
assigned projects on time with a reasonable degree
of craftsmanship and care, and regular attendance is the minimum. No late
projects accepted beyond 3 class days after due
date. Top grades are awarded for superior
work: the combination of its design excellence, conceptual depth and superior
craft. Other factors effecting your grade are your intelligent
participation in discussions, and most importantly, individual effort improvement.
