Course
Objectives
This
course is intended to give the student a substantive overview of selected
heroes in the history of American society. The course will be graded out of a
possible 200 points.
100 points for the
book report
100 points for weekly
class participation
A. You will begin reading and assessing the
book The Autobiography of Malcolm X at the beginning of the course. Collaboration
with your classmates via a discussion board thread is strongly encouraged. The
book report will be due towards the end of the quarter. 100 Points
B. There will be a question posted on the
discussion board pertaining to each week’s assigned reading. You must check the
discussion board at the beginning of each week to get the question for that
week. You will be required to answer the question in a short answer format, no
later than mid week, and post at least two other responses to the postings of
your classmates by the end of the week. 100 Points
C. The discussion board is also the place to
ask and answer questions pertaining to this class. The two most important rules
for the class are: 1) I do not accept late assignments, and 2) postings on the
discussion board, or conversations in the chat sessions must be respectful and
professional to both instructor and students at all times. Online classes are a
wonderful resource that affords flexibility to students. It is not an avenue
for anyone to say things that are rude or otherwise unbefitting for a class
setting.
