Course Outcomes
How Outcomes will be met in the class
Basic
stretches and proper conditioning techniques will be taught during the warm-up
portion of the class. Body alignment
will be emphasized as students recognize their own strengths and areas where
they can improve as they practice short and long movement sequences. By
applying their knowledge of movement to increasingly more difficult steps,
skills will be practiced with a basic trial and error approach. As students combine all acquired elements of
conditioning, coordination and memory to learning a dance sequence, they will display
individual degrees of increasing proficiency.
Dance
Clothing: Jazz pants and shirts or
comfortable clothing. Sweats are acceptable. Clothing must allow stretching and
movement. Jazz shoes are necessary and
will be discussed at the first meeting.
All shoes not to be worn outside before entering the dance studio.
Grading
Based on the
following:
Attendance,
participation, basic technique and mastery of movement sequences.
1. Know the material presented
a. the sequence
b. the timing
2. Performing at regular tempo
3. Performing
with style (when sequence and timing are mastered and one can project the style
intended).
Also based on the
individual student and whether or not he/she has had previous dance training.
Attendance,
attention and effort are rewarded.

A common,
campus-wide minimum standard regarding student cheating, stealing, and
plagiarizing provides enough autonomy for instructors and programs to set their
own standards. It is the instructor's responsibility to clearly articulate to
the students what is considered appropriate and inappropriate behavior in the classroom
and what action will be taken in the case of inappropriate classroom behavior.
It is recommended that this be done through the course syllabus.

Student Code
“Cheating, stealing and plagiarizing (using the ideas or
words of another as one’s own without crediting the source) and
inappropriate/disruptive classroom behavior are violations of the Student Code
of Conduct at Bellevue College. Examples
of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to: talking out of turn,
arriving late or leaving early without a valid reason, allowing cell
phones/pagers to ring, and inappropriate behavior toward the instructor or
