This class is for foreign students who have already studied English in their native countries, and who wish to review the basics of the English language.

 

LEVEL TWO:   This course is designed for intermediate and advanced students.  The course will use the text UNDERSTANDING AND USING ENGLISH GRAMMAR, third edition by B.S. Azar.  The text is available in the BCC Bookstore.  In Level Two we expect to cover such topics as:

     

      -  gerunds

      -  infinitives

      -  adjective clauses

      -  noun clauses

      -  conditionals

      -  verb tenses as necessary

      -  passive voice as necessary

      Homework will be given every lesson.  The purpose of homework is practice; it is a chance for you to experiment with and attempt to use the structures we study.  Homework is not supposed to be perfect, but it is necessary!

 

     Participation is important. You may be asked to work with partners or in groups.  Asking question is also very important because it helps your classmates and makes the class more interesting.  REMEMBER  -  there is no such thing as a stupid question!!!

 

     Certificates will be given out at the end of the quarter to students who attend 75% of the class sessions.
