COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This course is designed to teach students informal everyday speech used by native English speakers in a fun and interactive way.  Students will learn to recognize expressions in both oral and written form, and will increase their listening ability when watching TV and movies or talking with native speakers.

COURSE ACTIVITIES:

Students will become familiar with many new expressions by using a variety of activities which will include exercises, discussions, sharing of expressions and advertisements.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

Mastering idioms and expressions requires a great deal of listening, studying, practice and usage.  Participation in activities both during class time and outside of class time is important to getting the most benefit from this class.

Because our time together is short, I will assign units from the book for study at home. 

Students will also be asked to keep a list of expressions that they hear or read during the week. We will discuss how to do this at our first meeting.  Students will share some of these expressions with the class each week.

Certificates will be given for successful completion based on attendance (75%), participation and effort.
