This class is for foreign students who have already studied English in their native countries, and who wish to review the basics of the English language.
LEVEL THREE: This course is designed for intermediate and advanced students. The course will use the text UNDERSTANDING AND USING ENGLISH GRAMMAR, third edition by B.S. Azar and will continue at the point where Grammar Review 2 finished the previous quarter. The text is available in the BCC Bookstore. In Level Three we expect to cover the following topics:
· Conditionals and wish (completion of chapter 20)
· adverb clauses
· reduction of adverb clauses
· connectives
· advanced vocabulary and sentence structure work
· use of articles
NOTES:
Homework will be given every lesson. The purpose of homework is practice, it is a chance for you to experiment with and attempt to use the structures we study in class. Homework is not supposed to be perfect, but it is necessary!
Participation is important. Never be afraid to ask a question. Questions help your classmates and make the class more interesting. REMEMBER - there is no such thing as a stupid question!!!!!
Certificates will be given out at the end of the quarter to students who attend 75% of the class sessions.
