Attendance
Come to class on time. If you are5 minutes late more than three times, it will count as one absence. If you are absent 10 days, you will receive a D. If you are absent 12 days, you will receive an F. If you are absent 5 days, you will receive a warning letter. When you’re absent, it’s your job to find out what you missed. The best way is to telephone or email a classmate, or you can ask me before class or after class.
Classroom Behavior
I want the classroom to be a nice place to learn. Please respect the other students: turn off your cell phone in class, and don’t talk when someone else is talking. However, if no one is talking, feel free to talk to your classmates.
Homework
Turn in your homework or give your presentation on the day it is due. If you are absent that day, turn it in on your first day back. If your homework is late, the grade may be lower. If your presentation is late, you might receive a zero.
Grading
Your final grade will be calculated in the following way:
Presentations 40%
Quizzes and Exams 40%
Attendance & Participation 10%
(speaking in class, having good ideas)
Comprehensibility (accent, volume, grammar) 10%
Grading Scale
93-100 A
84-92 B
75-83 C
0-74 D (good effort)
0-74 F (unsatisfactory effort)
Special Needs
Students with disabilities who need special help must meet with the Director of the Disability Resource Center in room B132 to show their eligibility for special help. The telephone number is 425.564.2498, or TTY 425.564.4110. In addition, students should meet each teacher during the first week of the quarter and review the special help they need.
Conclusion
Finally, I hope that you will enjoy the class. I think that if you talk, listen, and share ideas, you will improve your English and have a good time. J
