Textbook: Stand Out 4 by Staci Lyn
Sabbagh and Rob Jenkins
Longman Dictionary of American English A
student assistant will bring texts for your use in class. You can buy the textbook and/or dictionary at
the BCC bookstore.
Materials
Bring a 3 ring
binder notebook, paper and pens to each class.
If students need
to miss class because of personal or family illness or death in the family,
please call my office and leave a message explaining the absence. If you take vacations, take care of family
members for a long time, are ill for a long time, or have
schedule conflicts, you need to drop your class and come back when you have
time to attend class.
Students must
finish each class level in 3 quarters.
Students who want a 4th quarter in any level need to request
permission by writing a letter to Garnet Templin-Imel, the head of our ESL
program in R130.
The more you
participate in class and do your homework, the more English you will
learn. The more you learn English the
easier it will be for you to participate in your community outside of school. These are the goals of ESL classes here at
BCC. The ESL program expects you to
make progress in English to stay in class.
